Fly fishing leader question?
Hey I’m pretty new to fly fishing in general. I plan to use the rod for largemouth and smallmouth bass, and sunfish.
I just bought a leader at cabelas. It is a 6 pound leader that is 7.5 feet. It has a small loop at the end. What knot should I use to connect this with my main line?
I assume its the thick end of your tapered leader that’s got the loop in? it should be this end! anyway to attach it to your fly line, its the simplest connection, a loop to loop connection.
Put the thin end of the leader through your fly lines loop(it may have a ready fitted welded loop or braided loop or nail knotted loop, or a whipped loop) then take this thin end-still in the fly lines loop, and put it through the loop on the leader, pull the whole leader and fly line and it will lock together.
If your fly line has no loop in it at all you need to add a braided loop, they are easy to attach and pass through the rod guides easily.
