fly fish sticker
I want to sell old fly fishing pole and or know what it is worth?

original J C Higgins bamboo pole w/sticker #3002

J.C. Higgins was the brand name that Sears used on all of their sporting goods, from fishing tackle, fire arms, to basketballs. The rods were built by someone else for Sears, my guess would be Heddon, and attached the J.C Higgins label. Because they were mass produced they are not sought after by collectors, so the value is low, probably in the $20-$30 range, depending on it’s condition.

It’s good that the sticker is still on the rod, as that is a positive identification. I mention this because I have people bring old rods to me to restore. In one case the customer found the rod at a yard sale, paid $5.00. He took pictures, then stripped the rod before bringing it to me, to help save me time. From the photos it was determined that the rod left as he found it was worth several hundred dollars. With the sticker and signature removed it was not worth the original $5.00 he paid for it. If anyone has old fishing tackle that may have value it is best to know the value before doing anything to it.
