In the UK what do y’all do with all that carp and coarse fish?
Just wondering if you eat it and, if so, how? My understanding is that it’s quite bony and the meat can be less-than-delicious. I suppose it’s called coarse fish for a reason. And what about trout fishing? I read “Fly Fishing: Memories of Angling Days” by J.R. Hartley earlier this year and it seems like every time he turned around there was a place to fish for trout. Of course, the book is set in the mid-1900s, so maybe things have changed.
Eating any coarse fish is frowned upon in the UK although some eat pike, perch and grayling.Carp are now the most popular fish to fish for but they are put back asap. it is all about catching them not killing them. we use keep nets or carp sacks to store them until we finish and then we release them.
In Germany and eastern Europe they eat carp. we now have alot of immigrants from that part of the world here and they sometimes eat the fish they catch which has caused an uproar but i guess it is just that we come from different cultures.
There are a lot of excellent trout streams and rivers in the uk as well as lakes. J R hartly would still be happy.
