Is there any place to fish on my own in Paradise island – Bahamas?

I’ve just booked a package to paradise island and wanted to try salt water fly fishing… however i’ve seen prices of fishing excursionss and can’t really afford them. Can I try fly fishing from the shore close to hotels? should i take my own fly fishing equipment or is it imposible to fish without booking a private excursion? I’m from argentina… and never fished in salt waters… only trouts in patagonia..
Same question for snorkeling… any suggested spot at swimming distance?
